My Students

In my kindergarten classroom, there are 23 curious, inventive, and energetic children that are exciting about learning. Everyday I can hear my learners saying statements like "I did it!", "I see a sight word!" or "Look what I can do!". Teaching Kindergarten is truly an amazing gift. I aim to share a magical learning environment with my students, so that they continue to love coming to school. They enjoy reading, writing, and art, but most of all they love to learn through play! So, even the recess yard can be a valuable place where students can work on social skills, problem solving, and engineering!

My school is an independent charter school in Los Angeles that focuses on providing an inclusive education for ALL learners!

We have 2 Transitional Kindergarten and 3 Kindergarten classrooms of students who enjoy playing outside. Our school co-locates on a Middle School campus, so our Kindergartener's yard is not your traditional playground area.

My Project

Children learn best through play.

They learn social skills, problem solving skills, and build empathy. A school playground should be stimulating and serve as an outdoor classroom. Children can explore and apply the engineering, mathematical, and science concepts learned in class.

Unfortunately, our Kinder play yard needs a major uplift to ignite our students' imaginations during playtime. The requested building blocks set from Imagination Playground are just what our young learners need. They are perfect for open-ended play, which fosters students' creativity. These blocks will allow students to envision, plan, and create structures.
