Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Title I campus where more than half the families come from low -income situations. We have overcome many challenges in the past several years including Hurricane Harvey that disturbed many lives and some are still rebuilding. Now we have the challenge of COVID 19.

Yet we are Houston Strong!

We are now as a district faced with helping our little learners continue their academic journeys back in a school setting when they were home due to COVID 19. Our educators are now challenged to deliver instructional content to scholars that have evident gaps. My scholars regardless of circumstances in their world should still have the opportunity to invest and empower in their academic mindset through literacy, math, and science regardless of the circumstances around them. Developmental tools are needed to facilitate thinking/ learning. Teachers must strive to lift up and teach families that education will always breaks all barriers.

Ninety-five percent of my scholars qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. This means that they are living either at or below the poverty level. My continued pledge is to see that we support /help to close the gap with little learners and create academic and productive learners.

My Project

TPT boom cards and teacher created hands on games will allow my little learners to crack this Covid curve. Hands-on instruction Lakeshore materials uses kinesthetic and tactile methods, where touch, feel, smell, taste and hearing can enhance the learning experience. This type of multi-sensory learning enriches the mind and helps little learners retain and learn for much longer than lectures or reading alone. Since we are now back in the classroom, these materials are essential for instructional needs in small and whole group settings. Little learners through the use of these materials will surely help assist the littles in their path to academic success.
