Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students within our school community are kind, caring, and excited to learn about the world around them. They arrive at school every day looking to share their experiences and foster relationships with their peers and teachers. My students have developed a love for learning and enjoy studying and learning about new topics.

This year, I am returning to in-person learning in a NEST Kindergarten classroom that services both general education students and students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

For many of my students, this will be their first in-person classroom experience and for some, will be their first classroom experience, all together! All children have worked diligently to adapt to significant changes in their daily schedules, academics, and social life throughout remote learning due to COVID-19.

As we prepare to return to the school building, my students deserve a safe, healthy learning environment that will allow for them to feel comfortable enough to continue working to their best abilities.

My Project

As we prepare for another school year, there is still so much uncertainty throughout our city and our world due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our students, their families, and staff have experienced challenging and trying times throughout the past year and a half and educators around are still putting their best foot forward in order to provide students and their families a safe and calm learning experience.

My Kindergarten students will be experiencing many firsts as they begin school this fall.

This can be extremely nerve-wracking and intimidating and can cause immense stress & anxiety for students and their families. Through grade/age appropriate read alouds, I am hoping to help ease any worries, stress, or fear my students will have as they enter a new setting away from what they are used to with many new, enhanced safety procedures and guidelines. Building upon my students' socio-emotional learning, specifically throughout the first few weeks of school will allow for my students to feel comfortable, confident, and safe.

The read alouds requested will not only allow a smooth transition into the classroom setting for my Kindergarteners but will also reduce any stress or anxiety they may be feeling and become successful learners and classroom citizens!
