Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our Kindergarten students are 4 and 5 year olds that attend our local community school. All of the children are from low income families and eligible for free lunches. Many of the students live in temporary housing including shelters, or are doubled up with extended family members.

Many students struggle to come to school on a daily basis.

However, with constant outreach to parents and working with families their attendance has been improving.

Our students are a special group of children who enjoy learning and are always curious about learning new things. The especially enjoy reading stories and writing their own books.

My Project

Through different art supplies and materials our students will be able to explore how to create different pieces of art with different materials such as the paint dot pens. Additionally we would like to make our library space more cozy with a soft stool for our kinders to read on. Additionally we are having students move from using pencils to pens. The blue point pens will be used by students to write stories during writing workshop. The alphabet puzzle mats will be used to help children with their letter/ letter sound recognition in a tactile and sensory way. We would like to have our kinders explore learning in more of a fun and tactile way.
