My Students

Have you ever wanted to read something and not had enough money to buy the book? Our students get almost all their reading materials from the EVHS library and these are some of the titles they have requested. We will process and make these books available to all of our students ASAP.

Our students are local; they live right around our school.

We are a Title 1 school because over 80% of our kids get free or reduced price lunch. East Valley is a small school and is only in its sixth year. We want to get more new books of interest to our patrons and encourage them to read! One of the standards we are trying to achieve is having each student read 2,000,000 words per year and having new, interesting books will encourage our students to achieve this standard.

My Project

Our students will be reading these books, both novels and non-fiction to further their knowledge of the world, its inhabitants and their behavior. A few of the novels are examples of Dystopian societies which they can read and analyze for their tenth Grade English Class. Others are transitional, so they will help reluctant readers enjoy a novel experience because of the high interest books that will be available for some of our lower readers.

These books will be available to over 960 patrons and they will get protective covers and book tape applied by a professional to make sure they last, to be enjoyed by many, many students for years to come.
