My Students

Do you remember receiving the weekly news magazine in school? I do! It was part of the day that our class looked forward to. I would like my students to experience the excitement of reading their very own issue of a weekly magazine. TIME for Kids is perfect for my first graders.

My first grade students are excited to learn especially to learn to read.

Most have attended kindergarten at the school, but for some, this will be their first experience in formal education. Many of my students are bilingual, speaking Spanish at home. The students live in the neighborhood of the school. One hundred percent of the students receive free lunch and free breakfast. Our school is located in the inner-city.

My Project

I am requesting the TIME for Kids magazine subscription. As a Reading Specialist, I am always searching for ways to motivate and excite my students to become life-long learners focusing on reading. I know that this will excite my students. The weekly magazine motivates kids to read through the colorful pages and fun activities. Each issue is theme-based and geared toward the interests of my students. TIME for Kids is a magazine that the students can take home and share with their families. Many of my students lack printed material at home so this is a resource that will be used over and over in their homes. My own children loved the magazine subscription they had at their school, many years ago, and would always come home to read it to me.

I know my students will be proud to own a copy of TIME for Kids but they will be especially proud to be able to share it and read it with their families.

This donation will really make a difference in the lives of my students and also their families.
