Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are fun and energetic group of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders that come from diverse backgrounds and households. They enjoy work that takes the every day curriculum outside the box and working with others as much as possible.

Our classroom stresses an environment of mutual support, respect, laughter, and hard work.

I encourage my students and expect them to support and encourage each other. We spend a lot of time in our classroom every day and so our room needs to be a place that is both inviting and comfortable, clean and functional.

My Project

In my many years of teaching, I have come to find that all students enjoy having the freedom to express themselves in a way that shows their individuality. By allowing them a creative outlet through an artistic component, I enjoy incorporating art with my math, science, yearbook, and ELD curriculum.

The materials I am requesting will allow my students, in all of the classes I teach, to create posters, comic strips, booklets, pamphlets, and an abundance of colorful projects that show not only what they learn, but their creativity as well.

I am hopeful that by incorporating more creative aspects to the lessons I teach, that it will help them retain the information they learn longer, and enable them to enjoy what they are learning a bit more!
