A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I am in my sixth year as the STEM teacher at our school for all students from K-5th grade. Our school provides free meals to all of our students. The children in my classroom are at many different intellectual and ability levels ranging from gifted to special needs. Some of our students are classified as homeless, some have language challenges due to being ELL, and some children are in foster placement. We have many military families since our school is less than a mile from a military base.
Sometimes, just the smallest thing can make a bad day turn into a good day and put a smile on a child's face.
I also know that some of these children are truly hungry when they come to my class. I usually have a supply of snacks to show that I notice when they have been trying to do the right thing. The oldest students will ask me if I am going to pass out snacks at the end of their classes. I would like to have enough of the Frito Lay, Nabisco, Cheez-It, and Goldfish snack packages along with the fruit snacks and muffin bars to do this for an additional grade level during this semester. Having small items like the Starbursts will allow me to hand something out to all students on their way out of our STEM classroom. The marshmallows will be used for STEM construction projects with enough extras for eating.
Please consider a small donation to help me continue to provide a small treat to the hundreds of students who come to STEM each week.
