My Project
Students are extremely motivated by food and snacks, and I already have all of the classroom essentials I need to get the school year going.
Many of the people in our community come from low income households, many of which suffer from food insecurity.
Looking at the base of Maslow's pyramid, food insecurity directly affects the most fundamental needs—access to adequate food and nutrition. Without reliable access to food, individuals may experience malnutrition, physical weakness, and poor health. This effect is even more pronounced when impacting children and teens, who may experience diminished self-esteem and self-worth. The stigma associated with not having enough food can affect one’s self-image and confidence, as well as their ability to pursue personal and professional goals.
Getting these snacks for my classroom is one way I can level the playing field for students who may be facing these struggles at home.
