Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hello Everyone -I am an Adapted P.E. teacher for students with developmental, physical, and cognitive disabilities. My students are AWESOME and I love seeing the progress they make in A.P.E. A.P.E. is the part of the day where they can just be kids and move around.

My students are AWESOME kids.

Each student is an individual but all share the same goal - they want to LEARN. I teach in 2 different schools. At one school I teach students with Autism from Kindergarten to Second Grade. They are in inclusion classes where they are given additional support to succeed in a general education setting. At the other school my students are between 2nd and 5th grade and they are cognitively delayed and some have physical disabilities too. A.P.E. is held in small groups wherever space permits. Even though their skill set may be limited they want to play most sports and do exercise like their peers. Like i said my students are AWESOME and they always want to PLAY and get stronger.

My Project

My students will be able to practice the fundamental skills and learn new ones. My students don't have a Gym - this equipment would make it possible for them to play basketball, soccer, and hockey in a safe manner in the space that we have. Fitness is important to my students because it is something that can be done on their individual level. They love working out to music and using stations.

Donations to this project will benefit these students unbelievably.

My students will love the opportunity to play sports and participate in fitness activities. Many of my students don't have the chance to participate in physical activity outside of school. Being successful in A.P.E. and learning and loving these activities can foster a lifetime of participating in physical activity and fitness.
