Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom starts with a smile and a welcome to class from me. This year as in every school year I create a list of goals that I would like my students to master before the school year ends. But my top goal is writing and the use of technology.

I teach Language Arts in a Public Middle School.

I teach a total of six periods averaging about 22-30 students per class. I teach advanced and gifted students who at times are open to just about any thing I challenge them to do. However, our school is a title one school in which a large percent of the student body are from low and middle class families as well as a big ELL group of students. Many of our students come from families that are just making it day by day. This year I have a few students with severe medical issues and the cost for the medication can be very expensive. Therefore, as a teacher to these children it is my duty as an educator to provide the best learning experience and make them feel happy and secure in class. I wouldn't want them to ever worry that they don't have the materials needed for class. I'm here to help them and teach them no matter the circumstances. I believe that this Middle School and team of teachers collaborate in providing for our student's.

My Project

Imagine a classroom with bright vivid colors and a glare of sunshine surrounded by 22 class computers. The computer is one of my main learning tools in class. Student's are able to work on Reading and Wring software in class. However, at times listening is involved. I would like to replace a few damaged headphones. In addition, several computer mouse's have been damaged. Therefore, I would like to replace them so that all the computers in my class are available. Language Arts also consist of writing. I work with my student's not only to write on paper and make writing drafts but I allow them to use the computer and print the final writing and laminate the top 10 to display. Student's have asked me to print in color paper for them. Lastly, the folders will allow me to give each student a place to store their work in class. Therefore, all would really help out my class.

The donations for my class will come in handy.

Many students are not able to print any work because they just don't have a printer. Being able to provide a printer, paper in color and laminating some stuff for them will be so awesome. Having a few headphones and computer mouse's replaced will give each student a computer to use. Lastly, the folders will allow students to store work and see how much they have learned and improved. I'm so sure that many kids will be super happy in my class..
