My Students

What do your blood and the city of Venice have in common? The answer is found inside the high-interest magazine: "KIDS Discover: Blood."

My students are enthusiastic fourth and fifth graders in a highly capable program.

I teach math and science to both classes and this year I will be adding reading informational text to my curriculum. Because we do not have any science textbooks, I am in need of texts that compliment our upcoming units of study: astronomy, birds and the human body.

My Project

I have previously used Kids Discover magazines and found that highly capable students love them. The text is engaging and the visuals are stunning. Each issue is brimming with informational text features like colorful diagrams, maps, charts and graphs. It also includes online bonus content which is ideal for my eager students who want to know more.

Another bonus is each magazine is printed on high-quality, durable paper.

This allows me to use the magazines for many years. With your help, my students will not only become better readers, but they will also learn about science.
