My Students

I have a wonderful group of students that are looking to make the best out of the current situation. Technology has been hard on them..using it, depending on it, and accessing it. One of the hardest things has been getting them technology that can connect to the internet and for some it is just now reaching them and isn't working all the time.

So, to help get the packets and copies out to my students that can not access the content online that I am trying to assign to them is essential.

They all want to be as prepared as they can before entering middle school. I am in need of some of that technology that can help do that for them.

My Project

Not all students were ready for an immediate online world and their home life wasn't either. All students should be allowed the opportunity to access all materials that are being given to students to succeed in this time away from their classroom.

Students can work on art, math, reading, writing, science and history assignments as well as accessing fluency and reading passages to keep up on their learning levels.

There are some thematic units on some of the books my kids have at home that can be used for comprehension questions and mini projects. There are may word activities that can be given to keep strengthening their vocabulary. There are wonderful science activities and worksheets that they can have access to. Also, this will allow me to get art lessons out to the students. As most students are in their homes all day worrying about the current situation and giving them an outlet for art is something that can be possible and helpful to their well being and giving them some self expression during this time. Before we left school we had been talking about all the wonderful art projects we still had to do and I want to be able get those materials out to them. Reading passages to help keep their fluency up was something I was sending home nightly. I want to continue some of their weekly and nightly learning routines that will help make them successful in their reading skills. Students naturally regress when they don't have access to materials that are key to their success.

So, in a time like this we need to make those materials available in a community that is predominantly in a low-income area where technology is hard to find and so is connectivity.
