This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am finishing up my first year as a teacher. At the beginning of this year, I chose to get rid of my teacher desk in my classroom so I could optimize the space in my room to best support my student's learning experience. I wanted my students to have enough room for flexible seating, a place for a rug for whole class meetings, and grouped seating for small group instruction. I wanted them to have all of this without having to struggle to get in and out of seats. By removing my teacher desk, I don't have a space for myself. I purchased a cart for all of my materials I would normally store in a desk, but I sit at a student sized desk. I also do not have an appropriate area to do small group instruction in my 3rd Graded ICT class.

A kidney table would help solve these two problems.

I would be able to have a desk to work at on my preps and spare time and also have that space double as an area to meet with small groups for instruction during, work with students during literacy and math centers, as well as pull students who need additional supports or need testing accommodations.

Donating to my project would help create an open and comfortable space for my students and myself to work and succeed!
