My Students

Our students are the Future of Our World! Think about that for a second and let it sink in. Unfortunately, NYC was the epicenter of the recent pandemic.The academic education and Social-emotional learning have been disrupted and our students have been greatly affected.

Fortunately, we have the power to change and help our kids in this Whole New World to become successful, creative, and knowledgeable individuals to reach their full potential.

As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, I work with students who are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. We are an ICT (integrated co-teaching class) in Queens, NYC. The population is a mix of students who have special needs and receive essential supportive services, and some are general ed. My students are brave, inquisitive, and actively engaged individuals who want to learn more and try new things everyday.

Due to budget cuts, our students will continue to be robbed of the necessary tools in order to thrive successfully.

They are truly an inspiration and we have the responsibility to make sure they can grow personally and academically in this New World with the adequate support and materials.

My Project

I have about 32 students in my 2nd grade ICT class. My students will special needs, learn best in a small group setting. I would like to give our kids supportive materials to meet their needs, promote learning and offer many opportunities for engagement, growth to target and reinforce skills. We are requesting a Kidney desk to help keep our students healthy, meet their educational needs, and give them opportunities to have normalcy again in this New Whole World. We will use the table for my students with Special Needs and provide a space for small group instruction and guided reading. It is crucial for my students to have safe, and interactive space to thrive academically.
