Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach kindergarten in a title I school & a high-need community. Most of the students at my school receive free or reduced lunch. However, I hold high expectations of my "kinderkids".

My students LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to write. If we ever have a spare moment they ask if they can write in their journals. I hate saying "No", but our materials are scattered and not very organized. I would love to create an actual writing center in our classroom. This would eliminate wasted time gathering materials and would allow more time for writing. In kindergarten we use "kid writing". That means they spell phonetically. I love to sit down and read the things my kids write about and see how they spell words. It makes me smile. Therefore, I want to see more of it.

That is where you come in! I am requesting a tabletop writing center that will store all of our writing materials including markers, pencils, crayons, scissors, & writing paper. I am also asking for a letter writing supply kit, a tabletop paper organizer, and 2 magic writing boards. My kindergarten kids will have so much fun getting to spend time in our writing center. I know they will want to share every "Pulitzer prize deserving" piece of penmanship with me and I can't wait to award them their prize!
