Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic and enthusiastic third graders. At the end of the school year I would like to have all scholars meet or exceed grade standards. With this goal in mind I would like to give them the supplies they need to support them on a daily basis.

My school is a general population school, however, we have a diverse population of English language learners.

I would describe my school as a flower pot because it plays an important role in growing learners in a community that faces so many social and economical challenges. One of the greatest challenges our students face is displacement in temporary housing. Owing to this fact there is a high percentage of tardiness and absenteeism among my students. Despite some of these challenges students have shown resilience and an appreciation for learning

My Project

The materials requested will be used to sustain and replenish the day to day items students need. The pencils, notebooks and glue and will give each student access to materials they may have struggle to provide at the beginning of academic year. The notebooks and pencils will be used to complete note taking, math and writing tasks and activities. The turning chart stand will provide all learners accessibility to review previous visual learning aid such as charts. The turning chart standing will be used to display instructional and supporting information taught. The color pencils will be used during the writing process. Students will use color pencils to edit and revise their writing throughout the writing process. They will also use the color pencil to carry out art projects. The ten frame will provide support in mathematics. The ten frame and colored tiles will help students in simple algebraic thinking such as thinking about decomposing numbers to find missing value.

This project will make a difference among all learners because it reduces the anxieties associated with the inability to access simple yet important materials students need on a daily basis.

The availability of these resources allow students to engage in learning without interruption. These materials will benefit both my students and the learning community as a whole.
