Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 18 students who are all non-English speaking students and are all mostly from low-income families. They all come from homes where the parents, unfortunately, do not speak English, and they do not have a role model in order to learn the English language from. My students are energetic little kids who love to learn and are very excited about being in school. However, since my students are all non-English speaking students, they need a lot of visuals and hands-on activities in order to learn and make the learning process more meaningful. Also, due to the lack of knowledge from the part of the parents on how to help their children, I feel that my students need a double dosage of educational fun activities in school in order to be up to par with their counterparts and succeed in school

My Project

My students are amazing children who love to run and play but very few have ever had the opportunity to play in an organized league. Exercise is very important and the lessons that can be learned in team sports can help shape and create "confidence" in a young person's life. I want to give them this chance to experience this and help round their educational experience.

My goals are to give my students the opportunity to participate in a fun soccer league and help my students become more active and enthusiastic about coming to school.

This league will be geared for 5-year-old students. The emphasis will be on basic skill development, team work but most of all fun. The essential materials needed to start this league are simple: a Little Tikes Easy Score Soccer Set, a few Wilson Traditional Soccer Balls, and a Soccer Kick Trainer.

The motto of or our league and hopefully throughout the rest their lives will be...FLC. Fight Like a Champion means to always give your best effort throughout every aspect of life, be it in the classroom or on the athletic fields, and you will be successful and a champion.
