Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The keyboards that are being requested will be used alongside with the iPads that were recently donated for our music production class and all of my music classes. The keyboards will help students learn the shortcuts to digital audio workstations like GarageBand.

This will help students familiarize themselves with the shortcuts to make their workflow quicker.

This will also help in transitioning from using GarageBand to the more sophisticated and industry standard of Logic Pro.

For my advisory course, I have a lot of English Learner students and it will help with their technology literacy as they will practice typing, logging into their emails and into their Aeries accounts. By using the touch screen features of the tablets, it can become confusing and could often press the wrong button. It is helpful for students to have a keyboard which would be a great manipulative. This will help them if they ever decide to choose a career that involves using computers and working with technology.

All my other music classes will benefit from the keyboards by having the tools to do research. When we have our research projects that involve essays and creating a presentation, students will find it easier to work with a keyboard. Students will also have the opportunity to work on their typing by using programs and these keyboards would be essential.
