My Students

One way my students love to learn is through the use of technology.

Technology is an integral part of their lives and will continue to be in their future. We will use technology as a tool to foster learning by using devices and related programs for various subjects.

My students are enthusiastic 5th graders who are excited for their final year in elementary school. They are well behaved and highly motivated to learn. Their positive attitude enables them to be hard workers and focused. My class is made up of 30% English Language Learners, which has me using various teaching methods to help them improve in the English language along with the other 5th grade standards, including the Common Core. Being at a Title I school, we are limited with technology. We lack a school computer lab, so we are very eager to grow a mini-technology lab of our own!

My Project

Many students have a deep interest in technology, but more specifically, video games. Learning how to code through simple applications will open the eyes of my students to a new insight on the world of technology and gaming. This is all very educational as it challenges the students to think critically and methodically, which are characteristics of successful students. I believe all my students can benefit from having iPads in the classroom. With a full classroom of 30 students, which include English Language Learners and students with other disabilities, we will need the use of two iPads to share among the class.

Coding has been increasingly popular in classrooms and I am proud to say that we will be learning how to implement coding in my classroom this year.

Having iPads for my students will make learning more exciting and less mundane as they will have various opportunities to work independently or with a partner by completing educational challenges through the various applications, like the coding applications.
