My Students

My students are energetic, curious and want so much to explore the world around them. However, my students experience difficulty comprehending the changes that happen around them especially at this critical times.

My students are all diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and have low functioning skills.

My students disabilities impedes their ability to effectively communicate their needs and emotions, perform daily life's skills and deal with changes around them.

My students are all currently engaging in remote learning due to the lock down. Since they are learning from home, they mostly depend on online tasks, videos and interactive read aloud via google classroom for academic instruction. My students individualized educational plans recommends a 12 month programming due to their disabilities. This implies that with the lock down still in place, my students will most likely be attending summer school remotely.

My Project

These materials will be delivered straight to a second grader's home for her to use to retain and enhance her skills while learning remotely. My student has been performing well with online tasks but requires hands-on materials to keep her excited about learning.

These items will provide hands on materials and to keep her motivated to continue performing academic tasks at home.

My student gets easily bored with tons of academic activities. To retain the fun in learning, she needs these materials to keep her excited and motivated, while still improving her fine motor skills and her love for play and creativity. She usually had access to these items while at school, but not at home. Improving her fine motor skills and keeping her motivated is very essential even during distance learning at home.

I am requesting these materials including tracing booklets, pencils and pencil grips to ease the burden of printing and to provide hands on activities. I have also requested pop up pig game, magnetic tiles and play dough because these are the materials she gravitates to at school to unwind. These items also foster her passion for creativity and interactive play with peers.

My hope is that having these items at home will help improve her fine/gross motor and socialization skills. The items will also serve as a reward for completing academic tasks while keeping the fun in distance learning.
