Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 27 amazing students in my classroom who could benefit from having access to their own individual classroom supplies and play items. My classroom is made up of a diverse population that includes English language learners and students with special needs. Our school is a title one school and all students receive breakfast and free or reduced lunch. The school is located in a low income area of El Cajon. The funding for our classrooms is very limited, however; we continuously strive to provide our students with the supplies they need.

My Project

The materials in our project will be used in the classroom, we are doing in person learning. The math manipulatives will help students with number recognition, create counting collections, and help with basic addition. The balls will be used during recess time or during the day when students feel they need something to hold or play with since they are inside all day.

Being in person with the students makes it hard to share materials, students needs things that they are able to use while working independently.

The masks are used for extra safety in case students do not have one or the ones they bring end up breaking.

Also, drinking fountains are closed and we are not able to offer water unless it is given to the students in an individual cup. The plastic cups will allow the students to have their own reusable cup.

In order to keep the students safe and stop the spread of the virus, I need to have supplies that students can keep in their own personal cubbies.
