Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our typical day begins in the gym shouting the schools mantra then ending with, "Work hard! Work smart! Stay Focused!" before heading to the classroom. The problem is my students can't stay focused because they're busy saying, "I can't see! I can't see!" "Keep your eyes on the prize," is my quote!

My students are eager learners that come from less than desired domestic and economical situations.

My students come from the housing projects located around the school. Although behavioral issues cause interruptions during our day, one of the things that I fight with the most is, " I can't see Ms. W and Mrs. H!" My co-teacher and I have to play musical chairs just about everyday in an attempt to rectify this problem and accommodate our eager scholars. Our school is a warm environment where everyone is eager to lend a helping hand to one another. As a 1st year teacher I'm trying to play part to ensure that our community of eager learners achieve their goals.

My Project

The documents that are presented on the document camera will be laminated to preserve their use throughout the lesson and school year. The document camera will ensure that every learner can focus and keep their eyes on the "prize", which is the lesson that provides them the skills/knowledge needed to complete the tasks. The document camera will also be used to present key details and messages in books that we read during our DEAR time and literacy lessons, science, math, and student presentations to the class. Our laminator will also be used to preserve our students portfolio and bulletin board work.

The document camera will help students stay focused and keep their eyes on the prize which is the valuable information and skills presented in each lesson.

The document camera and laminator will improve our students learning experience as well helping us preserve and display pieces of their work throughout the school year.
