This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Pre-K in a NYC Public School. My children come from all different ethnic backgrounds, making it for a richer educational experience for us all. They get excited about learning new things, making new friends and exploring the world around them. I have second language learners as well as children with special needs.

In my classroom, I like to give each and everyone of my students all the necessary tools to succeed.

I want their first year experience in school to be full of learning opportunities. I want to stimulate their curiosity and develop a desire for learning in a safe space.

My students are exposed to the world through reading, writing, music, rhyming, math and science. They spend most of the time exploring, making their own conclusions and learning the social skills needed to succeed in life. They make my life really happy.

My Project

In this new world of social distancing, it is important to give children an opportunity to explore and learn in the safest scenario possible. Making sure that my children are safe has always been a priority of mine. One way to make sure of this is trying to avoid movement in the classroom. Therefore I want to give each child individual sets of manipulatives, and book baggies to place inside individual book bins. These bins will also serve to place their writing tools, art tools and personal belongings.

These book bins will help keep my children as safe as possible in the classroom, avoiding contact with others.

In their book baggies they can place books they borrow on a weekly basis. I will also prepare individual bags with manipulatives for them to explore math concepts. This way they would have the things they need close to them. I would really appreciate your support in helping my children learn in a safe environment and have a great Pre-K experience.
