Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our children are dreamers. They are eager and motivated to learn. They come from families who are hard-working, and they are teaching their children that same motivation for learning. Many of our families fall below the national poverty levels; some experiencing the situation of being homeless or are home insecure. In addition, English is a second language for the majority of our families or they are bilingual households.

Every child deserves a great start.

Our children deserve no less than great. Our children are getting ready for kindergarten, and it is our job to prepare them! Having the right materials and devices is a large part of preparing students for school success!

My Project

This project would help 6 early childhood classrooms to wash dishes from meal times, wash plastic toys in need of sanitation, blankets from rest time, dress up clothes clean and stuffed toys fresh! One way we keep germs away is to keep our materials clean but with a limited budget we can only buy a small amount of soap and materials and we end up supplementing with our own paychecks to buy soap, dryer sheets, and cleaner.

Keeping our students healthy and learning means we need cleaning products!

We daily eat family style meals where students serve themselves using tongs and serving spoons and we need to wash these dishes at the end of each day. We end up running multiple loads of dishes each day to keep our dishes in working order each day. Our classroom sinks are not hot enough to sanitize dishes in order to meet licensing requirements for hand washing and so this dishwasher is a vital tool to our success. We also often will wash dishwasher safe toys in the dishwasher to sanitize them as well!

Weekly we wash rest time blankets, dress up clothes and other soft materials and stuffed toys and the soap cost can really add up! Teacher often take loads of laundry home to wash at home when we run out of soap. We are blessed that our site currently has a washer and dryer for our use however if we don't have soap and dryer sheets we can effectively clean the grime and germs!

We can use some help to keep our classroom running, clean and germ free. Thank you for your support!
