My Students

I will teach up to 25 students in a Title 1 school in New York City. I have students who are returning to the classroom. My students vary in academic needs, preferences, and are all eager to learn. In our Kindergarten classroom, we are constantly putting pen to paper and exploring our writing capabilities! We are working virtually through zoom to learn how to think, draw, and write about various topics like Fall, pumpkins, special items, and holidays.

My students are eager to explore the classroom and their learning space in First Grade!

With your help, I will be able to provide students with classroom tools and organization ideas intended for small group, whole group, and independent practice throughout the day. I would be so grateful for your assistance as I transform my practices and classroom for students!

My Project

First grade is such a lovely time to explore and engage in learning! I am working to create a classroom with tools that support student independence and student-centered learning. I have added some tools to help me get started. These tools will continue to enhance the student-centered classroom that I strive to create. My classroom is a place that my students really enjoy-I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently!

In first grade, our classroom needs bins, organizers, and student-friendly tools to support a student-centered classroom.

This means I want my students to have autonomy in their learning space and feel the entire room is theirs to explore! I have chosen some materials to support student engagement, motivation, and organization! Items on this list will allow my students to access learning materials, return their classwork, and enjoy their time in first grade.

I have carefully chosen materials that can be used with the multiple learning styles and needs of my first graders! The rolling cart will encourage students to submit their work in a communal space. The file holders and magnetic organizers will allow students to model and help with classroom activities such a morning meetings, interactive writing, and even play some games on a NEW carpet!
