My Students

My students come from mixed socioeconomic backgrounds. They usually start the year explaining to me how social studies is their least favorite class in school. However, I then explain to them that I want to teach them social studies in a way they have never been taught before and their interest is sparked. Then it is up to me to deliver!

My students are creative minded, active learners who are oftentimes misunderstood.

My Project

This Junior Scholastic subscription makes current events relevant to my students. By bringing the most current news to the students on their level, it helps them understand what is happening around them. The Junior Scholastic issues will bring information to them regarding America's and the world's news. It will also include geography, economics and civics which are all things that I cover in my class.

This isn't just one gift, but a gift of 16 bi-weekly issues!

I am excited to bring this resource into my classroom and use during centers. Through the opportunity of reading the news stories, my students will then be able to hold discussions and participate in writing responses.
