This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently have a group of 25 fabulous second graders in a warm, inviting, happy classroom. They live in a low income, high poverty stricken inner city community in northern New Jersey. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom due to their socioeconomic status and their varying academic abilities. Despite this, they are ready, willing, and excited to learn! They tackle challenges and strive to do their best. They are resilient, respectful, and hardworking students.

My Project

With our building being so old, our AC units have been inoperable for most of the past 5 years. This year, with our AC being completely down, none of the classrooms have any AC. With Covid mask-wearing being mandatory this year, and no air conditioning, learning in a hot classroom is very taxing for students and staff alike. Imagine trying to learn and engage in various activities in a hot room, difficult isn't it? Please consider donating to this special cause to help students focus and achieve more in class.
