Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year I am proud to be the team leader at my school. This means the world to me as this was my elementary school. As their coach/leader, I can experience so many of the different learning environments.

Seeing so many of my students every morning with the eagerness to learn has shown me that this has been the best professional decision I have made in my career.

I know that this year will be one for the record books not only for all the students and teachers but for me as well because we will work together as a village to make magic once again this year.

Our school is located in a low-economic neighborhood where about 90% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many come from broken homes that have been separated because of their dream to come to the United States or because of natural disasters. Some of the students in my school suffer from Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD), are ESL students (English as a Second Language), and/or have other types of special needs. Regardless of their challenges, though, the majority of the students are very determined and eager to succeed.

My Project

It is important that students learn about personal hygiene. Students need to know the importance of maintaining clean to keep healthy.

Building self-confidence is a major part of our curriculum and this project will teach personal hygiene.

Therefore, students need to have the essentials to start learning about this. Using many of the requested supplies, students will be able to take home personal kits to begin a healthy and positive lifestyle. Storage bins will be used to store items that will be replenished once the kits are full. Being able to supply my students will these basic kits will impact their lives greatly.
