Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Being a combination teacher of 4th and 5th grade students is not always easy, but I am very fortunate this year to have great students that are appreciative of those extras that I put into my lessons and engagement strategies. For the 2020-2021 school year I am teaching another combo, while looping my 4th graders to 5th grade. My students love talking and working together on projects.

During distance learning last Spring, my students missed out on creative outlets because they did not have the supplies readily available to them at home.

As we try to put together the best possible teaching practice virtually I would like to connect art and Social Emotional Learning as we begin remotely this year.

My Project

Last Spring, I asked students to grab paper and their pencils and crayons for an art project. Many students couldn't locate a blank piece of paper and their art supplies from the desks at school. They wanted to participate, but the lack of supplies was another frustration.

This year, I want them to have a bin to put their supplies in and a sketch book to complete any projects that we want to do.

Your donation will give each child their own supplies and will ensure that my students have what they need to continue creating and making art in a stressful time. COVID-19 has taken a lot of things from us, so please help us make sure it doesn't take art too.
