Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Long-term projects are a powerful activity in the elementary classroom. Projects, like these stitching patterns teach kids valuable life lessons and fine motor skills. At the beginning of the day and at the close of the day, I want the second graders to be able to work on these sewing projects.

They will learn how to thread a needle, how to stitch, how to follow a pattern, how to organize tools, and how to stick with a project that takes weeks to finish.

They will learn all of these valuable skills and look forward to this crafting work each day. I already have limited comfortable seating, but the ottomans will provide another comfortable, open-seating options that at least two second graders can use as they craft.

This is a project they will never forget.
