My Students

My fifth grade classroom is located in a lively neighborhood in downtown Manhattan. Our school is dedicated to providing "an environment where all children and all families are valued, welcomed, cared for and supported" (quoted from our mission statement).

My students are a beautiful mix, spanning different cultures, races, socioeconomic backgrounds, and gender identities.

They are passionate about social justice, and have strong opinions on just about everything! They are hungry to learn, and their eyes light up when we explore new topics or resources.

My Project

We need more bins to hold our books! Our classroom library is growing, and we don't currently have enough bins to hold all of our amazing books. When we run out of book bins, our books end up being shoved into full bins or on shelves and (augh!) the floor. We also need paper and folder organizers, to ensure that no papers get lost.

More bins and organizers will keep all of our books and papers safe and easily accessible.

These materials will be crucial in maintaining a well-organized, neat classroom, which will help my fifth graders develop organization habits before they go off to middle school!
