Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I deeply appreciate the unique perspectives and talents my students, some of whom may have autism, bring to the classroom. They each have their own way of interacting with the world, often showing incredible focus, creativity, and passion in their learning. Many of my students face sensory sensitivities or have specific needs that make staying hydrated a challenge. Simple things, like keeping water bottles accessible, can significantly improve their overall well-being and help them stay engaged in the learning process. By ensuring that they have water readily available, I can create a more comfortable environment where students feel empowered to stay on task and participate fully in class activities.

The specific resource I am requesting—water bottles for my students—will make a noticeable difference in their learning experience.

Students with autism often struggle with remembering to drink water or may become distracted by sensory overload, which can make it harder for them to focus or engage. Having a personal water bottle within reach helps them stay hydrated, which is crucial for maintaining concentration and emotional regulation throughout the day. When they are hydrated, students are better able to process information, interact with their peers, and complete assignments, leading to a more productive and positive classroom experience.

My goal for this project is to ensure that each student has the tools they need to thrive, both academically and socially. These water bottles will provide a small but impactful way to meet their needs, allowing them to stay refreshed and focused. What makes my students special is their ability to approach challenges with determination and creativity. By supporting their hydration needs, I’m setting them up for success, helping them feel cared for and understood, and ultimately fostering a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for all.
