My Project

I teach Kindergarten in Wyandotte, OK. We are in a rural area in Northeast Oklahoma. I currently have 15 energetic students that come from a variety of backgrounds. My students face socio-economic challenges almost everyday. Most of these young learners come into the classroom with no previous experience in a structured learning environment, as well as the impact of the pandemic, which contributes to a struggle with feelings, social skills, and emotions. One way to support students’ social, emotional, and mental well-being is to help them learn through exploration and play. They love hands-on learning! We are making up for missed class time due to covid absences so students must be actively engaged. This is why I am also requesting desk bands, sensory items, and engaging center games to help with kindergartener wiggles. We learn by moving, thinking, and talking. My class would like headphones to be used so that we will be able to hear the sound on our iPads.

STEM centers will help with keeping them engaged while learning.

This will help us learn new skills. While reinforcing skills in reading and math. Along with working on social and motor skills. My students are full of wonder, imagination, and interested in exploring while learning. All items chosen were based on the needs of my students and learning habits.
