Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach in a dual-language 4th grade ICT program in a diverse, inclusive school in NYC. My students come from all over the world and some are newly arrived New Yorkers whose parents cannot help fulfill a class wish list at this time.

We are requesting some cleaning materials to ensure that we keep the cold and flu germs away during the upcoming viral season.

Some staff members have been out sick recently and we are trying to prevent student absences as we want them in school so we can teach them what they need to learn this year!

We are also requesting some snacks as our class's lunchtime is 12:30 PM this year and that is very late for a 9 year old to wait to eat, especially when they have been awake and traveling to school since 5 or 6 AM. Hungry kids find it more difficult to learn. We want to be sure they are as focused as possible, so we are asking for a few snacks to share for those children who forget to bring something in (or do not have the means to bring something and are relying on the school for food).
