My Students

Students in my music classroom learn to play musical instruments and read music notation. By the end of the school year I want my students to be able to play together in a music band. The biggest challenge is to keep the beat while playing in a band. "Where words fail, music speaks"

The students in my classroom are elementary kids from Kindergarten to 5th grade.

They are very enthusiastic and eager to learn. They love making music in a band. Many of our kids come from immigrants families who struggle to make ends meet. The recent economic downturn hit our school community hard, and our school budget is tight. Our school professionals are working to provide our students with resources and materials that they need and deserve.

My Project

Using the multicultural rhythm sticks and music chimes we would be able to provide our Kindergarten students with the opportunity to play in a small percussion band. By playing percussion instruments, students will be able to demonstrate their musicianship by performing rhythmic patterns along, and with others while reading notes and counting beats. Lead by the music conductor students will express ideas through the sound of music.

The donations to this project will be beneficial for the students.

They will be able to improve their music performance skills and enhance musicianship. Playing in a band, students learn how to cooperate with each other, manage time, organize space and instruments, and maintain focus. These skills are very important aspects for being successful in life.
