My Students

I am the librarian at an urban elementary school in Brooklyn that serves an incredibly diverse group of students, nearly half who come from low-income households. We have students from all over the world, and one of the things they have in common is that they love to read!

Due to the rapid school shutdown in March, our library suffered huge book loss.

Many favorite student titles are now missing from our library. This year I am traveling from class to class trying to provide reading materials for students. Unfortunately, many of the books they are asking for are not currently part of our collection.

I want students at my school to be excited to check out books and to be able to provide them with the newest titles so they can keep growing as lifelong readers and learners.

My Project

These books will keep kids excited about reading! I want to be able to provide my students with the newest and best books being published. During this unusual school year, students need to look forward to reading and library time. By having the titles they are asking for, I can keep them coming back to the library and loving books.

Not all my students have access to books outside of school.

This project will make sure I have books in the library collection for students to check out and take home, that they can't wait to read!
