Our school is located in the rural south. Most of our students are African-American, and many would be considered at-risk for one reason or another. My students work hard to do their best every day and to learn and grow. Many of our students live in dire poverty. As a result, learning is not always the biggest issue in their lives.
For many of my students, it is hard for their families to provide the basic materials they need for class.
Since most of my children come from impoverished backgrounds, it is understandable that this can happen. In some cases, their parents have to choose between buy school supplies and putting food on the table. Because of this, we need help to make sure these students have the items they need on a daily basis.
My Project
In this project, we are requesting a refrigerator in order to keep students' medications and drinks cool. On many occasions, we have students who are diabetic. There have also been students with extreme allergies and asthma who have been here. It was suggested by our nurse that serves this school for us to get a refrigerator. Currently, we do not have the funds to do this.
In all, the refrigerator will house medications for students.
We will also keep a few drinks cool in case a student with diabetes or other issues needs them. Along with all of this, we will use it to keep water cold for our students to have after Physical Education. As you all know, Alabama can be hot most of the year, so this is definitely needed.
I know this is not a traditional request for this site, but it is definitely needed for the care of our students.
