This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of the children are low-socioeconomic status and English is their second language. Our school is located across the street from the border wall. Every student at our school qualifies for free breakfast and free lunch. My students work hard and are eager to learn new ideas and skills. Because of their families' financial situation, some of their basic needs cannot be met.
Many of my students and their families are unable to afford basic necessities that we take for granted.
These include food, hygiene items, transportation, and weather appropriate clothing. I would like to give my students a hat, neck warmers, and pair of gloves to keep warm this winter. My students will be able to keep warm on the bus ride to and from school each day, and also these items will enable them to go outside and play during recess. It will help them to be in my classroom every day. Without the proper clothing, the kids get sick and miss school. By providing these for my students, you will be helping them stay healthy, attend school regularly, and it will be one less worry for their parents. Thank you!
