Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love our students because they make our school library a beautiful collaborative space, where the school community comes together. Finding their new favorite books each week is exciting and reading is a special brand of magic. I don't want that spirit to end when the school library closes at the end of the school year. By providing them with new books they can take home, they will have resources to keep reading even after our school library has closed for the summer.

I hope to encourage the students to continue growing as readers and learners by providing them with books to keep, along with access to free literacy tools and opportunities they can use over the summer.

At the last library visit of the school year, each student will be provided with 1-2 high interest picture books, chapter books, or non-fiction books to keep at a surprise book giveaway. I will also be providing them with a bookmark that has a hyperlink to my literacy blog that will provide students and their families with public library programs and resources, free literacy opportunities and events, read alouds, and book recommendations that they can utilize over the summer.
