My Project

Allowing students to be creative and flexible throughout their day tends to make school more enjoyable for them. Blasting the students with work right when they walk into our classrooms is hard on most kids these days since COVID-19. Some studies have shown in addition to improving play skills and narrative language ability, flexible seating, play-based learning and student choice has a positive influence on students’ cooperation, collaboration and communication among each other.

Most students have not been able to play or show off their talents with others in a close proximity since COVID-19 has started.

We have been instructing our students to have their personal space, face in the chromebook, etc. when they should be able to have those childhood interactions of playing with friends, communicating with others and especially creating arts and crafts. Being able to give my students the opportunity to demonstrate their creativeness is important to implement in our weekly schedule. Increased attentiveness and engagement with their own learning and with their peers is extremely important at this time in their lives. This art center will allow my students to engage and create with one another.

Each item in this project is to create a calming atmosphere for our art center. The bonus of this project is these items will be able to be utilized for years to come and with numerous students.
