My Project

Our class is primarily immigrant families struggling to meet their needs. The students would greatly benefit from a small classroom refrigerator since we are encouraging them to give up sugary drinks and to drink healthy H2O! They are more likely to do so if it is kept cold in the classroom! Also, we have been growing herbs and vegetables in our hydroponic garden in the classroom, a small refrigerator would help us preserve the produce so that we can use them in our daily snacks and lunches. Many of our students come various ethnic backgrounds and are not accustomed to the school lunches which are "American" styled. If we had a classroom refrigerator, we could encourage them to bring their own lunches from home with their own ethnic taste. Many of our students come to school at 8am and wait to eat their own foods after school at 3pm. They are often hungry and have difficulty concentrating. Well fed students make for much better learners!
