My Students

I teach music in a 3K to 8th grade school, in a large urban area. Our students come from the city as well as from countries all over the world. As I have had to be teaching remotely online since Covid hit, our students have missed out on many music making opportunities for the last year and a half. Our students come from a rich musical heritage and community, and are very talented.

My Project

Having the ability to play ukuleles in our music room will allow students to have a hands-on music making experience that is joyful, constructive and inspiring! Since we have a large diverse student population, I will color code all the instruments to support all the various learners and ability levels.

The students will pursue developmentally appropriate goals, like rhythmic strumming and pitch-matching as they strum and sing favorite songs.

We will also use the ukuleles for individual song writing.

This will also help students to develop their motor skills and step following skills!
