Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I would like to introduce a calming space for my students this year that will be aimed at helping them learn and incorporate coping skills when feeling agitated, anxious, down etc. This space will include comfortable seating, warm lighting, a breathing buddy, and other calming resources to provide students with a peaceful area to retreat to when needed. By providing these tools I hope that students will be able to decompress, refocus, and rejoin the learning space after having calmed down. This space can also help encourage positive coping skills and positively impact students mental health.

In providing this space, I will be able to support my students' emotional well being and help them engage in resources that can help them manage their stress and anxiety in an effective manner.

This space will also contribute in helping maintain a safe space that promotes not only emotional well being but a positive classroom community. Thank you for your support in helping me create a safe space where students can learn to manage and express their emotions to continue providing a nurturing learning environment.
