Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Schools are no longer just spaces where students learn. Schools are safe havens, emotional support centers, and so much more.

Students deserve the chance to have access to a thinking space that optimizes their learning daily.

Strong emotions like anxiety, fear, sadness, over-excitement, and more are a normal part of any educational experience and journey. However, there are times when those emotions and feelings are so strong that they hinder learning or make it feel harder. Our hope is to use these materials in creating two different calming thinking spaces for students to regroup, process, and return to learning calmly. The bean bag chairs will provide comfortable seating, lights will provide a nice ambient light, and curtains give the sense of some privacy. In order to store the variety of materials such as fidgets, cushions, breathing boards, and books we need bins to keep the space less cluttered but the items still readily available. Our hope is that these spaces provide a chance for students to engage in learning in safe, healthy, and mindful ways throughout the year.
