Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year, my students will work on social-emotional learning activities that relate to self-regulation. This will improve their organizational and collaborative work in the classroom.

Since the start of COVID-19, students have been affected not just academically, but, also emotionally.

In light of this, I would like to have an area where I could provide my students with various items to accommodate their needs in self-regulation. I want to teach students to use strategies that could include scented lotion and hand sanitizer (scent), noise cancelling earphones (sound), tactile cards and water bead toys (touch), liquid fusion mats and liquid timers (visual) for sensory regulation. I am also including breathing posters and mirrors to help children visualize emotions and learn calming strategies that can be used anywhere. Students will be able to learn and use different strategies that enable them to tackle strong emotions successfully and be able to return back to the learning.
