My Students

"Let them be little. Fill their hearts with laughter. Help them grow wings. Nurture their sense of wonder. Inspire them to believe. Love them like there's no tomorrow".

In a Brooklyn pre-k center, 12 unique little individuals come to preschool each day excited to see what they can create, build, and explore.

They spend most of their young days in school learning about the world through play in a variety of learning centers. While they are learning through play, myself and the other classroom teachers are working on building their social-emotional skills, expanding their language and cognitive skills, and providing a fun, nurturing, and enriched classroom to make their pre-k experience memorable.

My Project

My preschool classroom is a busy environment throughout the day with students engaged in a variety of learning play centers all at once. This can be overwhelming for many of my sensory-sensitive students who need continuous support with regulating their bodies and emotions.

The cozy cube would offer a safe and quiet space for my students when they need a break from the busy classroom.

In the cozy cube they will be able to explore a book independently, snuggle with a stuffed animal when they are missing their loved ones, or use a sensory tool to calm their mind and body in an appropriate way.
