My Students

My students are a group of sweet young people who are just beginning to learn the amazing things they are capable of doing. They come from various backgrounds and most of them qualify for free or reduced lunch but they don't let anything hold them back.

There is nothing better than the sound of a student's "ah ha" moment.

My students are constantly amazing themselves with the challenging concepts they are working on this year. With their perseverance, they are on their way to incredible things!

My Project

My sixth graders are in need of more physical activity. So many of them are kinesthetic learners. They do not get the opportunity to learn kinesthetically very often. Recess is short and physical education is only once a week. If a holiday falls on their assigned PE day, they do not get PE at all that week!

My kinesthetic learners are depending on me to come up with creative ways to engage them.

English class is not usually seen as a time to move around the room. However, movement is key for many of these young learners. Connecting with them now is so important for their future learning.

I am asking for the basketball pursuit ball set in order to incorporate movement into English class. I plan on creating games that require students to apply the English skills they are learning while playing an interactive game. For example, each ball might have a type of figurative language attached to it. In order to score a point, the student must give an example of that type of figurative language and land the ball in the basket.
