Kamehameha Butterflies Wanted!

My students need a kidney shaped table, chairs, a digital microscope and butterfly sanctuary to explore science specimens and develop ideas about the cycles in the natural world. They love insects and love helping.

My Students

"A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory." Leonard Nimoy We want to not just preserve our unique plants, but educate our students about our natural environment with a kidney table, equipment, like a digital microscope and a butterfly sanctuary.

Our students are curious and eager to learn and work as a community!

They are eager to be stewards of their environment by preserving and learning. They are creative and share with other grade levels their experiences and knowledge by helping them read, write, and explore in the outdoor lab, our garden. Our students ask so many questions about lifecycles and what if questions, we created an "Ask an Expert" box. They have so many questions about science and the world around them we have to develop more "hands-on" projects to feed their hungry minds! Our students voted for a Kamehameha Butterfly garden and here we go... another very doable adventure! Learning about the Kamehameha butterfly is one of the many good ideas these students have created. Our school is in a urban center in a very remote area in the United States. Many of our students have seen poverty and some have experienced homelessness. All of them are into engineering, math, science, art, animals, and plants. They rock!

My Project

Our Kamehameha butterflies can find a home in our garden with the education and care of our students. Creating a place to learn about our incredible insects by using the kidney exploring table, chairs, digital microscope and butterfly sanctuary with our 5th grade students, will encourage them to keep developing and creating in the future. They will remember exploring everything about insects and the Kamehameha butterfly, their flight, their life and it will inspire them. Let us educate them with your support!

Donations to this project will improve our classroom by making a difference by adding a science center where students can read, look through a digital microscope and learn about life cycles by creating an environment that welcomes Kamehameha butterflies.

It will leave a legacy for future learners. Our students will have a place to share ideas, learn and explore. They can explore the possibilities.
