My Project

I am requesting hands-on STEM/STEAM lab materials to help our 300+ Grades 4 and 5 students go full STEAM ahead this year!

Our diverse students will use these resources to make products for our school store as they learn lessons and gain rich experiences in STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics), all while cultivating a culture of acceptance, critical thinking, and perseverance!

Our goal is to bring STEAM learning to our school store by making items featuring our giraffe mascot and our motto, "Stand Tall! Stand Proud! Be YOU!" Products include keychains, hats, pencil cases, t-shirts, pencils, coasters and more! We sell most of our items to help fundraise for our school and boost school spirit in our community!

This allows students to find new ways to express themselves and experience firsthand what it takes to run a small business. We discuss the creative and production side, understand inventory management, advertising, and of course we practice how to be a great salesperson!

Throughout this process, students will undoubtedly face obstacles and failure--experiences that children need in order to truly understand perseverance. My goal is to create an outlet where students can feel comfortable and safe enough to unleash their creativity, all while learning important life lessons!
